By now you’ve probably heard that our Congressman, Trey Gowdy, has decided not to seek reelection.
Let’s face it, there will never be another Trey Gowdy and I am incredibly grateful for his service and for standing strong for our values while in Congress. While his shoes will be difficult to fill, the Fourth District of South Carolina has a history of sending just the right person to represent us in Washington. I have no doubt we will continue that tradition.
For the last nine years, I’ve lived the life of a citizen legislator. I work several days a week in Columbia, come home at night to my family and work daily to build my real estate business. Every year, we work to balance the budget in the State House. Businessowners and families constantly work within a budget, while Washington spends more than it takes in and drives us further into debt.
What good is the work we do to fix South Carolina if Washington bankrupts the entire nation?
Most people know how I have been blessed with a wonderful family. I have had the opportunity to build a successful business and become respected in my field. I have been given the chance to serve my neighbors and my community in the South Carolina House. What some others don’t know is that I wouldn’t have had this opportunity if my biological mother hadn’t given her life so that I could live mine. It is her sacrifice that drives me to make a positive change in the world. It is this chance at life that I was given that propels me forward into the fight for what is right.
This is why I am running for Congress. I want to take this fight to Washington. I cannot continue to look my kids in the eye and not be able to say I’ve done everything in my power to leave this country better for them. Our children could be the first generation in history to experience a tougher life than the generation before. This is not acceptable to me.
Our future depends on taking action. I’ll go to Washington and will work every day to end reckless spending, balance our budget and return power to the states. I’ll only serve a maximum of 8 years because we need a focused Congressman, not a career politician or someone looking to climb the political ladder.
As our family begins this new chapter, please know how much your prayers and support mean to us. Winning this election will take tremendous resources and we would be honored to have you by our side. I hope you will join me in this battle to preserve our future. Your investment, whether it’s your time or your money, will be greatly appreciated as we work to win the Republican Primary on June 12th.
Dream. Build. Protect.
